  • My Professor Hugged Me Today :D

Last semester I had the most wonderful communications professor. Although she had her tendencies to be mean, she was hilarious and super caring. She wanted each of us to blossom and and grow, and to just be our very best. She made sure of this by pushing us, being completely straight forward and honest with us.

Well, I was walking to my next class and she got all excited for some reason. “Keisha? is that you?! You look great!! Can I hug you?” Like….what? I saw you in December. It startled me, but it’s nice to know that professors like me. It’s a really big confidence booster, like I’m actually doing something right.

What a wonderful day! Especially since I found out one of my classmates was an extra in many television shows (My Name is Earl, House, Cold Case, etc. He was the big guy getting attacked by bees in the episode “Patty the Daytime Prostitute”) It’s the best day ever.

  • Do you have “gaydar”?

    gaydar

With the long breaks I have between my classes, I’m generally bored out of my mind. Since I go to a university, there are ALWAYS a plethora of people…some more interesting than others. During these breaks of mine, my friends and I normally check out the guys and guess as to which one is “gay”…and yeah…I’ll be honest, I have none of these dar talents whatsoever (so for the most part I just enjoy the view)

My friend who happens to be bi always tells me that she has the ability to detect gay guys better than anyone else, and feels the need to brag about it. Which by the way in my opinion, is not really something you should brag about since it’s not actually a talent. Well she just so happened to have a major liking towards this fella in our Ethnobotany Lab. Now, this guy was the epitome of gay. He’s beyond feminine, has sadlier a girlier voice than I do, and once made the statement “it’s always better pierced” as he showed me his tongue ring.

With the inability to make a good guess at who could possibly be gay, I was willing to make a bet on this one. Sadly, she didn’t like my judgement (since she knows better *cough*) and told him that she liked him. (In the most complicated of ways I might add) She texted him in the Chinese I translated for her “wo xi huan ni” meaning I like you. He asked what it meant, and she told him to google translate it. He texted back “wo bu xi huan hai ci” which means I don’t like sea. (Which people, never use google translate to translate English into another language. It obviously cannot be trusted” After trying out a few other languages, my friend translated his text into “I don’t like girls.”

To her dismay, it turned out he’s a gay man with a boyfriend. *dusts off shoulder* Mhmm, just as I suspected. Any man that enjoys tongue piercings and the movie Rent, cannot be completely straight.

So are you like me? Can you only detect the gays if they’re obviously gay? Or do you have the gift of gaydar?

  • I Have Theme Music

Everytime I walk into my school’s lounge area in the library…they just so happen to play some Asian music. AND since majority of the people I go to school with are small town Catholic peoples (not to be taken negatively)…O_o I would like to think that the music is for moi.

..Plus I live in Southern Indiana, thirty minutes away from the hickiest (is that a word?) part of Kentucky ever. And, I have no clue where I’m going with this. No clue at all :3

Also…there was a hippie, and I thought he was in the shot :/ got a nifty vegan pamphlet. Still going to stick with my bacon :D

  • Found a picture of me….

    YES

…and now I know why parents warn their children about me ^_^V

  • We Would Never Know

The internet is all very mysterious to me really. The reason I say this is, I have been watching a youtuber (rodgerswan) for probably over a year now. Then all of a sudden he just stopped making videos, which it didn’t really hit me because I just thought he was enjoying life since he was in Japan. (He was a teacher in Japan, and vlogged on the Japanese cultures and etc.) Then all of a sudden, after almost a year without seeing his videos, one of his videos popped up in my subscriptions.

As excited as I was from finally seeing a new video, I read in the description box that he had passed away a year ago from internal bleeding into his abdominal cavity from acute pancreatis. It was a complete shock to me that he was gone for so long, and I didn’t even think about why. It turns out as a request from him, he had asked his family to upload his last few videos as he normally would on youtube.

What I loved about him was he was an extremely inspirational person, and he made everyone feel like they knew him. Just by reading the comments on his page, it seems like I’m no the only one who thinks this.

As to what I was saying, the internet really is mysterious. If any of us disappeared for awhile no one would really know what we were up to, or what had happened to us (not unless they facebook creeped you. Oh yeah~~ reference to previous blog)

Here is a link to Rodger Swan’s youtube if you are interested. http://www.youtube.com/rodgerswan

And here is his very last video.

  • I Deleted My Facebook

    Facebook addict

After a long time of contemplating, I finally deleted my facebook. Strangely enough, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.

The reason is, (if it’s not obvious already) is that I have spent way too much of my time on facebook. Although, I wasn’t quite the facebook junkie yet, I felt myself slowly turning into one. At first, I would just check my account a couple times a day and l just leave it at that. Then after awhile I felt myself multi-tasking between doing my school work and refreshing the page to check for notifications every so often.

For me personally, facebook made it easier for me to be a stalker. Now, I’m sure many people have “facebook stalked” somebody. Whether it’s checking up on an ex, or typing in a guy’s name that you like to see what he’s up to, it became all too easy to do that. Which, in all honesty is pathetic in my eyes. Why check up on an ex? If you care that much, just talk with him casually in person, and if you’re just being bitter move on. Or, if you like a guy just talk to him. No need to flirt right away, there is absolutely nothing wrong with casually talking to somebody in person. No need to be nervous either, there was a quote I really love. It goes a little something like “The best way to gain self-confidence is to do what you’re afraid to do.” So instead of creeping on some guy’s web page, just talk to him in person.

I also found myself just getting really annoyed. People posted so many pathetic statuses, and we all know it was just to gain some form of attention. And yes, everyone loves attention because it’s a nice feeling. But who cares about getting comments on how they’re sorry for you, or how hot you look in your picture. Do something in real life that’s worth mentioning.

I cared so much about what people thought about me. Too much in all honesty. I looked at all my photos with conceited eyes and thought “Oh my God, everyone’s going to think I’m ugly.” or something along those lines. Now that I think about it though, no one really cares at the end of the day. And people always look better in person..that is unless they photoshop the shit out of their pictures. Which I know is what so many people do, and it’s really sad.

And really, these past few days without facebook. I have gradually been getting more productive. I’ve been finishing my school work the day it’s been assigned…instead of the day it’s due..and it’s a really nice feeling.

This video gave me that extra push to finally take the steps in deleting my facebook. I’m so very grateful that my friend sent it to me.

  • Dear Boy With Umbrella,

I noticed you looking at me, catching me with a smile. I’m not smiling because I’m thinking of good memories, but because I think you’re cute. I want to talk to you, but your debonair is intimidating to a shy girl like me. All I can really do is gaze at you from a distance, my hands under my chin with a sigh.

  • Money Tight But Love To Travel?

Being a money tight college student who loves to travel, it’s difficult to find airfare that’s friendly to my wallet. Not to mention with all of these competing websites, it’s really hard to choose which website is cheapest for me. Thankfully, I have a really good friend that works for an airline and he showed me a website called Kayak.com What’s really great about this website is that it searches through all of the website competitors for the cheapest possible ticket. It’s such a lifesaver! Another website a fellow college student friend of mine has told me about is studentuniverse.com. It offers you a lot of things you can do at the location you’re interested in going to for an affordable price. What’s great about these two sites is that, they also go through many hotels and motels to find the cheapest stay. So for budget tight travelers I would recommend these sites.

  • I found something awesome

Okay, so I was watching one of my favorite gurus on youtube on makeup and she introduced a website. It’s called Luuux.com, and as you earn points you’re able to use your points for really nice prizes.

    http://t.luuux.com/SH2WS?url=http://www.luuux.com/health-beauty/sketchers-shake-ups

She actually received an amazing Coach purse. I think it’s definitely something to check out.
