Nothing says Happy Easter like “your dog’s in the hospital”
I’ve been stressing out a little this week, and I thought since today was Easter it would be a little better. Haha, yeah I was totally wrong.
My mom went on her usual dog walking routine with one of my dog’s (Eddieboy). I was at Pin’s around that time, and my dad was doing his thing at home. My mom called, and like usual I ignore it because I assume they were going to yell at me about something. They always….ALWAYS tell me to come home early when it’s like 6:00 pm….so bleh. Around five minutes later they call again, this time I answered it because I figured if I didn’t I’d have to face the wrath at home.
It turns out, while my mom was walking Eddie he picked up a fish hook and swallowed it. From what my parents described, it was hooked into his throat, and there was still the fishing line tied to it. So not only did my poor Eddie have a fishing hook stuck in his throat, there was a fishing wire hanging sticking out of his mouth. Since it’s Easter today, none of the vets are open except the emergency veterarian. My parents rushed my dog there, and SURPRISE SURPRISE, they don’t have the right equipment and told them to take him to Louisville, KY.
Just in case you don’t know where I currently reside, I live in Evansville, IN. That’s about a 2.5 hour drive. Five minutes ago, my parents called saying they just made it. So basically, my poor little Eddie had a fish hook in his throat for hours
So, what’d you guys do for Easter?

Were they at least able to sedate Eddie before your parents started the drive? Or give him a painkiller? I know the drive wouldn’t have been that much fun for him anyway; I would hope the vet in Evansville could have at least made things a little easier for him.
As for the drive itself — wow. What equipment was needed?
I hope Eddie is feeling better now.
@purpleranger@ireallylikefood - They gave him a painkiller, but I’m not sure how long it lasted. He’s better now, they got back at 7 am this morning.
went to moms, and at the same time celebrated his daughter’s birthday… it was nice
@Happily_Married_Guy - I’m glad your Easter was nice!!! ^^
First, I’m surprised that there wasn’t a facility with the right equipment. Nothing in Owensboro?
Second, I’m surprised it took them 2-1/2 hours to get to Louisville. I’ve done Louisville to Evansville in just under two hours.
