  • That so called “fashion show” was today….

In celebration of Chinese New Year, my Chinese class put together an on campus event for the whole campus to enjoy. I would write more about it, but I’m so exhausted that all I have the energy for is uploading photographs and writing short descriptions. Who knew having to think of what to write could take so much energy.

*I would show pictures from the fashion show…but…I look horrible…I kid you not. Lack of sleep+lack of makeup=horrible looking monster…but there’s another one I have to attend on Friday..so maybe I will post pictures then.*

  • “Fashion Show”

Tomorrow is the day that my fashion show is for my Chinese class. I’m SO nervous it’s ridiculous. I hate when I’m recruited for stuff I don’t want to be in. I have the absolute worst anxiety, and to make things worse, it’s mixed in with my incredibly low self-esteem. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to handle parading myself in front of 50 people in a traditional Chinese dress that doesn’t even fit me….not to mention a certain woman making extremely harsh criticisms about the way I walk.

My picking has gotten a lot worse too, but that is a whole other story in itself. I guess, I’ll just have to give myself positive affirmations like I’ve been reading about, and I’ll cross my fingers that this will work. Just thinking about this event Wednesday is enough to make my heart beat so fast I get feel it throbbing in my chest. I really don’t want to do this, but alas, the show must go on…even if it will be a tragedy.

  • Insight’s from Miranda Kerr

As some of you may know, Miranda Kerr has written a book titled “Treasure Yourself”. It’s all about how you can improve your body, mind, and spirit. I personally think that this self help book is something that all women who have low self-esteem should read.

From reading this book, I have gained such a high respect for myself. Not only have I learned what amazing things positive affirmations can do for my confidence, but it has helped me understand myself better, as well as every individual around me.

Having said all of that, I have decided to share some of Miranda Kerr’s insights from the book with all of you.

“What you see in yourself is what you see in everyone else around you.”

“You could spend your whole life wishing you were someone else and never really appreciate the person you actually are and the things that you have to offer.”

“Strive to be the best you can be and focus on who are you in each moment.”
    tumblr_lmrz1rLvVX1qc2u00o1_500

“Like a forest that grows back after a fire, there are always new developments taking place. Life happens in cycles; most challenging moments in your life will pass and a new phase of adventure will emerge.”

    “Think of failure as education.”
    tumblr_ls8m5xvzN41qbj1omo1_500

“No one can dictate what I should or shouldn’t do or how I should behave….your opinion of you is all that matters.”

“It’s also important to remember not to lose who we are under the pressure to conform to social expectation of what’s acceptable.”

“A genuine smile is the most confident and attractive thing anyone can wear.”
    tumblr_ly9y6txeGz1qc7gq6o1_500

“Some people are taught to believe that it’s better to be silent than to ‘rock the boat.’ But in my opinion you are worse off if you remain silent because you can find yourself squashing your own desires to accomodate others.”
    tumblr_mai2k8vwOd1rcf21qo1_500

“It’s important for us to learn to value ourselves enough to stand up for what we know is right and for what we want, otherwise we never get it.”
    tumblr_ma4onriSGx1rg9dfco1_500

“There should be a balance in all things. It’s important not to be too passive and let people take advantage of or use you, but equally important being too aggressive or even begrudging will not serve your highest good.”
    tumblr_ma3iad2HR11rg9dfco1_500

“Believing in our own capabilities also means knowing and having the means to rely on other sources for information and help if you cannot handle a situation completely on your own.”

“With passion comes belief and determination and a willingness to trust in your instincts.”

    tumblr_malxj1blri1rg9dfco1_400

“Style is how you express your unique individuality; it’s about the relationship you have with yourself. Fashion on the other hand, is all about the clothes and their relationship to the world or the moment.”

  • My Failed Ouija Board Prank

So around two weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to the Goodwill to sift through clothes and etc. to kill some time. As I was exploring the deep depths of used clothes, I stumbled upon the board game section of the store. To my surprise, I found an old looking Ouija Board mixed in with all of these family fun games.

I don’t like messing with stuff like that, but it was only $1.07 and I thought it would make for a good prank.

    IMG_7499

Well, we purchased it and left it on my boyfriend’s friend’s doorstep while he was away.
    IMG_7501

I ended up attaching a ‘creepy’ note to the box before we left.
    IMG_7498

    IMG_7500

I ended up not finding out what his friend’s reaction was until the next day. His friend wasn’t creeped out by it, and just assumed it was one of his friend’s pulling a prank on him. He did on the other hand, tell his girlfriend there was a mysterious Ouija Board on his doorstep and she refused to come home until he got rid of it.

He ended up going down the street to an apartment complex and just dumping it on someone else’s porch. I wonder what that person ended up thinking.

I guess if there’s any horror movies “based on a true story” in the future about a mysterious Ouija Board appearing on random people’s doorsteps..you’ll know who started it ;P

  • I’m NOT a model, so get off my case.

At my university, I enrolled in Chinese class so I could learn the language….but little did I know, that by enrolling, I would be forced to do a Chinese fashion show (among other things) for a Chinese New Year celebration that will be happening this coming Wednesday.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind volunteering and helping out one bit, but today pushed my buttons so much. We (my class) were pretty much automatically recruited to do everything for this celebration (as far as talent shows, dances, etc goes).

My teacher set up a meeting for all of us to gather at this church today to practice our catwalking. She invited one of her friends to teach us how to walk properly and all of this other modeling junk. She taught all of the “volunteers” how to stand properly. She told all of us that we had to stick out our chests, relax our arms, and lower our shoulders. Let me tell you something, there are NO mirrors in this room, so I had no clue how I was looking. Another girl and I apparently weren’t doing it right so she called us out and poked fun at us. I asked her if I could go to the bathroom and practice so I could see what I was doing in the mirrors, but she said “No, I am your mirror”. Yeah, helpful right? At first all of this “poking fun” was funny, and I didn’t care, but we were there for four hours. It was so freaking aggravating to hear constantly, especially when it’s directed at you.

When we started walking she wanted our left foot at 11 o’ clock and our right foot at 2 o’ clock, and as I did that she said I wasn’t doing it right. I know it’s practice and criticism is going to happen, but the way she did it was insulting. She called me out in front of the entire group of people some more…it made me feel EXACTLY how I used to feel when I was in ballet class and the teacher would yell at me and make me cry.

Later on, during the walking she was imitating me in front of the entire group and telling me how bad I looked. She did this several times, and proceeded to tell me that I should look more like a Victoria Secret Angel. Um EXCUSE ME?! I did NOT want to be here, I did NOT sign up for this, and I am NOT a professional. How are you going to make those suggestions towards me? If you wanted every single one of us to be perfect, maybe next time you shouldn’t wait three days before the actual event?

    Stupid!!

I’m feeling really low about myself, and I’m super grumpy. >:(

I hate feeling like this T_T

  • Flashback Friday (Photographs)

You know when you look into the deep abyss of your computer and find photos you haven’t seen for years? WELL! That is what I’m doing at this exact moment, and I thought it would make for an embarrassing blog.

I found these old webcam pictures from three or four years ago…as you can see, I was (and still am) a complete and utter camwhore.
